Will Cortez

2× Mexican National Champion. Olympic-level coach with 12 years experience. Building Dallas's first world-class skate training facility.

The Story

Will started skateboarding at 10 years old in El Paso and moved to Dallas as a teenager, where he quickly got sponsored and began competing. Under the mentorship of Chris Wilkinson, he developed into a professional skateboarder and became a two-time Mexican National Champion representing Team Mexico on the world stage.

As a competitor, Will placed 5th at the Pan American Games, performed at an Olympic level, and represented Mexico at the Qatar Beach Games. Closer to home, he used to perform skate demos at the State Fair of Texas.

As a coach, Will has spent 12 years coaching skateboarders — the last 8 at the Olympic level. He has worked with athletes from eight national teams: USA, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, China, Peru, Chile, and Canada.

Among his athletes, Will has coached Maya Kenny to a Mexican Championship and helped Evan Osiris Gomez earn a Mexican Championship of his own. He also worked alongside JJ Thomas coaching Shaun White through Olympic preparation at the California training facility.

Will currently rides for Super 8 Skateboards, where he has his own pro model.

The Mission

Skateboarding changed Will's life. It gave him direction, discipline, and a positive outlet growing up — and now he wants to provide that same opportunity to others.

The goal: build a world-class skateboard training facility in the Dallas area — something on the level of Kids That Rip, The Carry On Foundation, and Level Up Skatepark.

This facility will combine:

• Skateboarding — street and vert
• Olympic-level coaching
• Youth development and mentorship
• Health, wellness, and recovery
• A safe, welcoming environment for kids and families

The aim isn't just great skateboarders — it's strong, confident individuals.

Looking Ahead

After running the shop inside a local skatepark, Will is now focused on building something bigger — his own space and long-term vision.

At the same time, he's continuing to compete and pursue his goal of qualifying for the Olympics, while working toward coaching athletes on that stage.

This is bigger than skateboarding. It's about creating opportunity, community, and a path forward for the next generation.
